The Purple Note Radio Network (PNRN) is committed both to the promotion of independent music and musicians, and to respecting the legal rights of parties involved in the production of independent music. PNRN will endeavor not to intentionally violate the intellectual property right of any rightsholder.

The music files used in PNRN programs are licensed from their respective rightsholders in accordance with the Digital Performing Right in Sound Recordings Act of 1995 and the Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998. PNRN does not pay performance rights fees to the RIAA or SoundExchange, therefore all artists enumerated on the Artist List page, or their record labels on their behalf, have given explicit written permission to PNRN to use their sound recordings in a manner consistent with the Music Clearance form on the Submit Music page. Verification of this permission will be furnished upon the request of a rightsholder.

PNRN programs are licensed by BMI, so many songwriter rights are covered by virtue of those organizations. We are not licensed by ASCAP, or other less common organizations, such as SESAC, are not and probably will not in the future unless enough songs enter the playlist that are represented by them. We will attempt in good faith to exclude performances of works represented by ASCAP, SESAC, or non-American PROs with reciprocal agreements with PRO's other than BMI.

The live webcast and the podcasts produced from them are Copyright © 2005-2009 Purple Note Multimedia, all songs used with permission, and may not be reproduced without permission from PNRN. Podcasts may not be edited in any fashion by anyone receiving the podcast files, including, but not limited to, cutting the files apart to extract individual songs. The songs contained within the webcast and podcasts are copyrighted by their individual rightsholders.

The music in PNRN programs is NOT "podsafe" (freely reusable by other podcast producers) and remain copyrighted by their individual rightsholders unless noted explicitly in the Artist List page. Any use of "podsafe" music by PNRN is noted in a separate listing on the Artist List page and only include the songs those rightsholders have released under a podsafe-compatible license, such as Creative Commons. The "podsafe" listing on the Artist List page also includes links to their respective on-line licenses.

PNRN attempts to comply in good faith with all applicable Federal (U.S.) and state (Missouri, location of origin) laws governing the use of intellectual property. Any intellectual property violations committed by PNRN are unintentional and we will gladly comply with any request from a legitimate rightsholder to cease or modify the use of any disputed intellectual property.
